New Venue

The race has moved from a traditional ski slope venue to a dedicated Motocross Grand Prix track at Hollister Hills SVRA (address here). This new location marks a shift towards RFTR being a more participant-focused event. It offers a highly spectator-friendly layout, full-course visibility from elevated Spectator Hill, and a uniquely immersive camping experience.

Thursday 8/14 - Sunday 8/17
Hollister Hills SVRA

Thursday (8/14) - Arrival & Open Practice

  • Racers arrive and set up camp.
  • 9:00 am – 5:00 pm: Open practice.

Friday (8/15) - Timed Practice & Moto Qualifying

  • 9:00 am – 11:00 AM: Timed practice.
  • Two moto-style qualifying races per class; up to 25 racers wide. (points per moto; tiebreakers: 2nd moto finish > 2nd moto time)
  • Gate Choice: Determined by Friday’s qualifying results.
Qualification Breakdown:
  • Pro Men: 12 from season rankings + 12 from Friday qualify → 24 total.
  • Pro Women, Legends, Clydesdales, Experts: 8 from rankings + 8 from Friday → 16 total.
  • Groms & Intermediates: All qualify Friday and race Saturday.
  • 4:30 pm Mass Start Race:
    We will finish off our qualifying day with a 20-minute open-to-all mass start race.

Saturday (8/16) - Main Events, Awards & Freestyle Comp

  • Main Events:
    Classes with 16 (24 Pro Men) riders: Two semi-finals → top 3 (5 Pro Men) finishers advance to the Main. LCQ for the final two Main Event spots. The Pro Men race includes a 12-rider final.
  • Awards & Podiums:
    RFTR and Season Champion awards take place immediately after races on Spectator Hill.
    The Trick Comp and its awards take place after the races. (~6PM)

Updated Competition Structure

Seeding for pro racers is now split evenly between ORL season rankings and on-site qualifying:

  • Pro Men: 24 total riders — 12 from season rankings, 12 from Friday qualifying
  • Pro Women: 16 total riders — 8 from season rankings, 8 from Friday qualifying

Amateur Classes (Experts, Clydesdales, Legends, Groms, Intermediates):

  • Groms: 10-13 years old
  • Clydesdales - 215+ lbs
  • Legends - 50+ years old
  • Riders not yet in the pro ranks can now race the same challenging course.
  • Experts, Clydesdales, Legends: 16 riders per class (8 from rankings + 8 from Friday qualifiers)
  • Groms, Intermediate: 8 racers qualify Friday and go directly to the main on Saturday

Gate choice for Saturday is determined by qualifying placement on Friday.

All boards must be entirely OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) with the only exception being the tire.

Livestreaming:

  • Multi-camera drone coverage.

Additional Logistics:

  • All check-ins occur at GP track.
  • Access wristbands and camping placards issued at check-in.
  • No parking on Spectator Hill — day parking by start gates.
  • Shuttles loop every 30 minutes from the campground to Spectator Hill.
  • Volunteers needed for parking, shuttle, marshals, and track crew.
  • 20kW generator for charging.
  • FST footholds are permitted.
  • Racers race on their own boards. (Must be OEM)

Camping:

  • Adjacent campground ~0.5 miles from track. Address here
  • Limit to 5 people per Vehicle Camping Pass.
  • Includes quiet area option and music Saturday night.
  • Please Note – Due to site rules, we will not be able to ride Onewheels from the campsite to the venue. All participants must drive or take the shuttle.

Track Notes:

  • Full-width moto track with climbs, descents and spectator areas.
  • Onewheel specific features added throughout the track.
  • Victory lap and awards podium located atop Spectator Hill.
